My morning and night skincare rituals couldn’t be more different. In the evening you’ll find me playing music and snuggling – damn it, maybe I’ll light a candle – before layering a series of nine products. It’s a real fabrication. In the morning, the atmosphere is rather “apply a few products so that I can continue my day”. Lately I’ve taken this to the extreme, pairing my morning skincare routine with just one product: Strivectin Super-C SPF 30 Vitamin C Moisturizer (Buy it, $ 69, amazon. com).
The main reason I was able to reduce the size of this skin care product is because it combines three things that I previously had to break down into separate stages: Vitamin C, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Not only is a single ingredient skin care routine effective, it also eliminates the risk of layering too many products that don’t work well together, which can cause irritation or, at the very least, poor results. . While sunscreen blocks harmful free radicals, antioxidants such as vitamin C can neutralize free radicals that inevitably pass through. Vitamin C also stimulates collagen production, brightens and evens skin tone, so I would hate to miss it. What’s even better is that my morning skin care routine now meets my specific skin needs. I felt tingling after using products containing L-ascorbic acid, the most potent form of vitamin C. So instead I look for tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (aka THD ascorbate), which in this case is the form of vitamin C used in Strivectin Super-C SPF 30 vitamin C moisturizer. Compared to L-ascorbic acid, THD ascorbate is not as irritating because it is less acidic, in addition it penetrates the skin more deeply and is more stable. (Vitamin C is notoriously unstable, and once it oxidizes – a reaction in which it loses electrons, often causing a skin care product to turn an orange or brown color – it doesn’t. ‘probably offers no benefit.)
On that note, you would never guess that this Vitamin C moisturizer also contains sunscreen, as it applies just as easily as any non-SPF moisturizer. I store the product in my fridge (it doesn’t hurt to be careful even with the stable rep of ascorbate THD), and the cold combined with the whipped texture of moisturizer and the scent of grapefruit makes it a great addition. beautiful sensory experience. My skin has this feeling of freshness, dew, if I dare say plumped up after applying it. (Related: Everything You Need To Know About Vitamin C Skin Care)
Like J. Lo or Neil Patrick Harris, Strivectin Super-C SPF 30 Vitamin C Moisturizer is a real triple threat in my book. If like me, you’re a part-time skinimalist (or just want to cut down on your long morning skincare routine), it’s worth a visit.
