One of the topics I like to write about is coffee. Coffee makers, barista-inspired gadgets, new caffeinated products that help me get the buzz – drinking coffee and testing its related products is a perk of the job, forgive the puns. I found it wakes up my brain, gets, *ahem* things move, and, less obviously, is also an unlikely hero for the health of my skin.
Yes, the same cup of Joe that makes me buzz every morning also makes my skin buzz. Specifically, this latte-inspired mask from Florence By Mills, Millie Bobby Brown’s own beauty brand. Twice a week I use UA Latte Feed Your Soul Love Mask ($18), and twice a week my face feels like it’s swallowed three shots of espresso.

Like I said, coffee’s reputation unfolds like a beverage. Yes, it’s loaded with caffeine, which gives you a mood boost and an energy boost when you need it most. But dietitians love it for other nutritional reasons, too: it’s a powerful antioxidant that helps boost immunity against disease and inflammation, it’s packed with essential vitamins, and it stimulates the nervous system to drive forward things, including your bowels, faster.
Turns out it works just as well on the body as it does inside of it. Coffee seed oil and powder – the key ingredients in Florence By Mills Coffee Mask – have all these wonderful nutrients and antioxidants to give the skin a boost too. Specifically, it contains vitamin B5, which smoothes the skin and evens out texture, and potassium, which promotes renewal and new growth. Talk about a strong brew.
I also love this multi-tasking mask for its gentle exfoliation that’s powered by – you guessed it – coffee! Although you can use it as a mask, it also doubles as a deep cleansing scrub formulated with physical bases to remove dead skin, dirt and layers of grime. As someone who has tried many physical exfoliators, I am impressed by the subtlety of the Florence By Mills mask. It’s not so fine and gritty that it doesn’t work, nor so coarse that it scratches your skin to the point of pain. Think of it as the goldilocks of exfoliators, leaving your skin “perfect” after just one session.
Just like I would never tell anyone how to drink their coffee, I would never tell them how to use a beauty product either – it’s personal preference. However, I personally use this mask 1-2 times a week. Unlike me, who needs a cup of coffee every day as soon as I wake up, my face is happy to drink it every few days, especially when I use it as a scrub. Since it’s formulated with hyaluronic acid (for hydration) and glycerin (a humectant that seals in moisture), it adds a boost of hydration and lasting glow, even hours later.
The only potentially weird thing I have To do to do with the everyday mask, however, is to give it a breath of fresh air. This coffee infused mask smells so good and awakens your senses, whether it’s on your face or not. This has earned it review after review praising its javalicious scent. One customer called it a “highlight of the experience”, thanks to its invigorating aroma, and I can confirm that is definitely a highlight. It smells of brewed coffee in the morning, and it’s beautiful.
Whether you’re a coffee lover like me or prefer to get your caffeine in a different way, wake up your skin with the Florence By Mills Coffee Mask. You’ll love a latte.
