Almond snack for better skin health

Women across the country know how closely nutrition is linked to healthy skin. The food we eat is as important as the products for our skin because healthy, glowing skin is hard to achieve with a poor diet, even with the strictest skin care regimen. This is evident in the survey which highlights a shift in consumer preferences towards a healthy lifestyle and natural alternatives for the daily diet.

According to a recent survey conducted between December 7 and December 22 by YouGov, a research consultancy, 72% of women in India consider healthy dietary changes to be an important step for beautiful skin.

Overall, the results indicate that the majority of women prefer to snack on healthy and nutritious foods such as almonds and fruits, as they recognize the beauty benefits of fruits and almonds in particular.

Speaking specifically in terms of maintaining a healthy diet, most women see a significant benefit in achieving great skin with meals at home, a high fiber diet, and nut snacks like almonds. Almonds have become the top choice for Indian women, as they link vitamin E to better skin health. In addition, the survey highlights the fact that 59% of women consume almonds daily, mostly soaked or raw. This makes almonds the most regularly consumed nut.

Women in the 30-39 age group and millennials place great importance on almonds on aspects such as wrinkle reduction, skin radiance, and skin protection. While Gen Xers strongly associate eating almonds with reducing wrinkles. This assessment is backed up by their personal experience as they report observing positive effects on the skin after eating almonds. In fact, those who have been consuming almonds for more than 6 months report positive effects such as skin radiance and younger looking skin than those who started consuming almonds recently.

Commenting on the survey results, Sheela Krishnaswamy, nutrition and wellness consultant, said: “It’s great to see the survey results indicate stronger adoption of the idea than a lifestyle including healthy snacks can improve skin health. For years now, I have recommended almonds as a healthy, natural snack for better skin health. Almonds are known to be a rich source of antioxidant vitamin E and provide essential fatty acids and polyphenols, making it an excellent choice.A recent study suggests that almonds may help improve facial wrinkles and skin tone, a finding that supports the belief that Almonds promote skin health among survey participants, and I urge women to include them in their daily diet, to promote healthier skin.

YouGov’s quantitative survey aimed to assess the correlation between beauty and snacking, and to understand women’s snacking habits for beauty benefits. The survey was conducted among a sample of 3,959 women in cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Indore, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Chennai.
