22-year-old actress from Kannada dies after cosmetic surgery, FIR filed against clinic owner


Chetana Raj, a 22-year-old actress from Bangalore, died on Monday after undergoing “no fat” cosmetic surgery. The operation took place at Dr. Shetty’s cosmetic clinic in Rajajinagar. Subramanyanagar Police filed an FIR against the clinic based on a complaint from the victim’s father.

Chetana Raj was a resident of Chikkabanawara and was a known actress for TV soap operas like Geetha and Doresani.

According to a report by The new Indian ExpressChetana’s father, Varadaraju, who is a businessman, filed a complaint against the clinic and alleged that Chetana went to the clinic on Friday morning, he said doctors insisted that she undergo a “degreasing” operation to remove the fat on her waist.

On Friday evening, she succumbed after the operation due to complications and doctors did not transfer her to any other hospital for proper treatment.

Police case registered against the clinic

Moreover, Chetna’s father said that the clinic did not seek permission or inform his parents before performing the operation and that the clinic’s negligence was the cause of his death. He is also asking for legal action to be taken against Dr. Sahebgowda Shetty, owner of the clinic.

In an interview, a police officer from Subramanyanagar station said, “Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered and we will send the post-mortem report to the medical board for further action against the clinical”.

The body has not yet been handed over to Chetana’s family as it awaits an autopsy, which will take place on Wednesday.
